About Me
Hello and welcome to my page. I am an English teacher and Specialist Dyslexia Teacher. I offer English tuition for pupils at both primary and secondary level and have over 18 years of experience in teaching and working with pupils from Years 1 to 11. I also teach Yoga which I think is a winning combination to pair my calm and measured approach with the expertise I have gained throughout my journey in teaching.
I have gained invaluable experience working at one of the few dyslexic schools in the country and have also worked for Dyslexia Action.
I enjoy working with pupils of all ages and abilities and offer a personalised programme of study for every student I teach. I believe practice is the key to improvement and I work hard with my pupils to allow them to achieve their best: with hard work comes great reward.
Lessons are usually undertaken online through Zoom or Teams. In-person availability varies. I am based in Bowdon, Altrincham, Cheshire.
Qualifications:
BA (Hons), PGCE, ATS
Full DBS
I follow a highly structured programme to teach spelling and sound which is aimed specifically at pupils with dyslexia. I also have experience in working with pupils with memory processing difficulties, dyspraxia, Aspergers Syndrome and speech and language difficulties.
I have Approved Teacher Status (ATS) which is awarded by the British Dyslexia Association.
Maths
I also teach Mathematics to children between the ages of 6 and 11. Often parents welcome being able to work with one person for two different subjects.
Entrance Examinations & SATs
I have been helping students to prepare for Entrance Examinations for over 10 years. Working through English, Mathematics, Verbal, Non-Verbal and Creative Writing (school dependent.)
I am confident that I can provide support to help children prepare for the entrance and SAT examinations.
GCSE
I enjoy working with students at GCSE level in both English Language and English Literature. Examination texts can be consolidated and skills practised together.
